What the app stores

Meals you log (photo, items, calories and macros), weigh-ins, your goal and body details, and daily activity totals. This data is kept on your iPhone and backed up to a private database operated for the app so it can be restored. You can turn backup off in Settings. Our support team can access your account to help with questions and coaching; access is limited to authorized staff and is logged. Your data is never sold or used for advertising.

Meal photos

Photos are sent for analysis either to the Chowbo server (processed by Cloudflare Workers AI or Anthropic) or, if you choose, directly to OpenAI using your own ChatGPT plan with storage turned off. Photos are not used for advertising and are not sold.

Health data

With your permission the app reads activity, heart rate, sleep and weight from Apple Health or Google Health (Fitbit): steps, calories burned, exercise minutes, distance, resting heart rate, weight and sleep. It is used only to show your results next to your meals, set your calorie target, and answer your questions in the coach. Daily totals are backed up to your private account. When you ask the coach something, today's totals are sent to the AI service that answers (Cloudflare Workers AI, Anthropic, or OpenAI through your own ChatGPT plan if you connected it), with storage turned off where the service allows it. If you turn it on, the app writes your meals, water and weigh-ins to Apple Health or Google Health. Health data is never sold, used for advertising, used to train AI models, or shared with anyone else.

The use of information received from Google Health API and/or Developer Tools will adhere to the Google Health API Developer and User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Friends and groups

Friends are optional. If you set them up, the people you add and the members of your groups see your name, your profile (name, username, short bio, photo and color), your weekly numbers (days logged, meals logged, average protein, carbs and fat unless you turn that off, days on target, protein days, calorie deficit, streak, level and points) and milestones such as a new level or badge. They never see your meal photos, meals or weight. You can report a profile or a message; reports are reviewed by our team. Messages you send in a group are seen by its members and kept for up to 180 days. You can delete your own messages and report others; reports are reviewed by our team.

Accounts

An account is required: you sign in with Apple or Google. Chowbo receives only your name and email address, used to identify your account and restore your data on another phone. Sign in with Google for Fitbit data and Sign in with ChatGPT share only what you approve on their consent screens. You can disconnect any of these in Settings or in your Apple, Google or ChatGPT account.

Deleting your data

Deleting a meal removes it from the backup. Settings, Delete account erases your account, backup, photos, friends and groups. You can also email info@stratagemlabs.dev.
